As I created my own park ranger graphic I decided to take a look at visitor demographics at national parks. My Google search brought up this age for Y osemite, in California, which I visited about 10 years ago with my son. http://www.nps.gov/yose/learn/management/statistics.htm The statistics show that only 1% of park visitors were Black or African American and there's not even a category for Hispanic visitors. As #clmooc members post photos of parks they love, perhaps this will stimulate a conversation about who's benefiting from the National Parks. Since everyone pays for these with their taxes, this should be a concern. Maybe class projects could look at statistics for other parks, and this could be a topic for a student led MOOC in the future.
