My 9-year old daughter is off to camp tomorrow and, being a part of the Green Team, needed all things green…including her hair. And since we weren’t quite ready for a $40 dye job, she researched temporary dyeing and came up with this idea. She mixed 5 packages of lemon-lime Kool-Aid (choose your favorite flavor) with about 8 ounces of water in two small bowls. The less water, the deeper the color. I challenge you to make a solution to this problem: what are the best workflows for creating a podcast? The problem is worded rather broadly and it is also meant to provoke other challenges like, “What is the best workflow for annotating pdf’s?” or “What workflow works best for organizing your day?” I love productivity processes and seeing how others solve everyday problems. Admittedly, the best workflows are often idiosyncratic, but I am not too proud to borrow all or part of someone’s workflow solution. I am a graduate research assistant at the Graduate School at Texas Tech University, an aspiring Teir-1 university. In the Spring of this year, I was asked to teach a series of writing workshops, and over the interim session in May, I taught an onsite “Thesis and Dissertation Boot Camp.” The workshops were actually a seminar series. A five minute on lesson the Karuk Fish Spear, a three step figure I usually use as the first thing to teach to young kids. It’s a hack in the sense that’s it’s on YouTube, not in person, and is also an excerpt from a Teachers Teaching Teachers session I asked for after the wonderful session Paul led on Mine Craft, which got me thinking that I should add this meat space game I love so much to cyber space. And it’s a #toyhack in the sense that string is one of The Five Greatest Toys of All Time.
