I wanted to find a way to introduce students to various aspects of literacy needed for 8 grade writing- structures of writing, style, and rhetorical devices. I am working on developing a rhetorical toolbox which consists of taking notes/creating foldables, practicing these skills with various handouts and lessons I’ve found online and incorporating these skills into our genres of writing we will do this year. I have developed a series of lessons for each category for their toolbox that incorporate online games/quizzes and handouts found online.
